About the Artist

Luminous Life is a national award winning Galena, IL photographer with a high level of artistry….yadda yadda yadda.  This is the part where I’m supposed to toot my horn, right?  Okay. Here goes- I create photograph that radiate light and life with a fine art approach, making you look fabulous and telling your heartfelt story.  Ooooooh…..ahhhhhhh

But, really- My name is Tamara and I shoot photos.  I am down to earth and I’m told I’m fun to work with.  I put you at ease in front of the lens and lead you through a portrait experience that feels more like a great time with a friend- yes, even while we are chasing your toddler with a bag of puffs as bribe for just one smile.

Galena, IL Photographer

I will dance until my knees are jello. This, I vow.

Gear I use: Oatmeal Box with a hole in the lid, film taped inside, and a flashlight… ;oP  The way photographers list out all their gear to impress people seems weird to me.  Give me that oatmeal box if that’s all I can have and I will still rock your photos.  I mean, I have great gear.  I love my gear, but it’s got nothing on my brain.

Photographic Experience:  14+ years Professional, Full Time.  That’s right-  and I also sniffed at least a decade worth of film developing chemicals for this knowledge, pre-digital.  My photos are in FOCUS and properly exposed…rare these days, lol.  I am well versed in all the programs to make your images look wild and trendy, but I think I’d rather make sure you have beautiful, timeless, artistically composed images.  I give you the files for personal use and, if you want to slap on some trendy filters, go for it :).  In 20 years, you’ll be happy to have the clean copy where you aren’t floating in a wine glass.  KWIM?  But, play with them.  I don’t mind.

Stuff I Can Do: Headstands, chase toddlers in a crouched position with 10lbs of camera in one hand and a reflector in the other, hike the Galena Stairs and survive, make it rain (in Photoshop :)), Identify dozens of wild edible and medicinal plants like a proper GEEK, spin on my knees on the ground with a sword on my head…yes, for real- weird skill that might come in handy in the apocalypse maybe?

Native Dialect: Dustbowl Okie meets California Surfer meets Spanglish

Favorite Artists of the Moment: Nahko Bear & Medicine for the People, Willie Dixon Silvia Salamanca
